Knitters of Eastminster
Eastminster offers members several opportunities to share their knitting skills while enjoying fellowship with others. The two knitting groups are Afghan Ministry and Cool Knitting, Warm Fellowship.
Afghan Ministry meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Haines Administration Center from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. This past year this group completed 11 afghans which were distributed to local organizations, who serve those experiencing emergencies or need. A label is added to a completed afghan designating that is was made by the Knitters of Eastminster Presbyterian Church York, PA 17402.
Cool Knitters, Warm Fellowship meets every Wednesday from 10:00 am to Noon in the Haines Reception Room. Members of this group will not only share new patters but will also teach you to knit if you haven’t yet learned this skill. It is not necessary to stay the two hours. Come and go as you wish.
Special Projects completed by these groups include:
- Prayer Shawls
- Afghans
- Prayer Squares
- Baby Blankets
- Baby Angel Buntings
- Hats
- Mittens
- Leper Bandages
- Knitted Knockers
- Ugly Mittens for dialysis patients
- East York Elementary Hat and Mitten Project
If you are interested in joining either or both groups just come. If you want more information about this ministry, contact Jan Witzke at the church office at (717) 755-6222.
